He was that boy in the playground. The one that pulled your pigtails. The one that lifted your dress in front of the entire school. Now he’s that guy in the office. The one that steals your lunch from the fridge. The one that gets away with everything. I’m sure you know him. Everyone knows that guy. He’s a #JERK. Presley Malone knew her relationship with her fiancé, Jason, had run its course. The second that ring came off her finger, she didn’t expect to be the pawn in an immature game played by the office jerk. His name is Haden Cooper, and he is six years younger than her. Immature and irresponsible, getting drunk and stoned every weekend like he never left college. He rode a motorcycle, carrying a different girl each week. He was everything a jerk should be—insensitive, unreliable, and most importantly, a heartbreaker. Haden enjoyed playing games, and when it came to Presley Malone, it was all too easy. Miss Know-it-all with her over-the-top OCD was soon going to get a taste of what it was like to live on the edge. But what starts off as an innocent prank soon becomes an unhealthy obsession. He is wrong for her and she is wrong for him. It’s a battle of the sexes ready to go to war. But in this battle there are no winners, and it takes only one fateful night and six tequilas for their lives to take an unexpected turn that changes them both forever.

Welcome back everyone, after an enthralling read last week it was good to come back down to a contemporary romance.

The prologue for this book really sets the scene for the whole #Jerk title of the book. Any guy that thought or spoke about me that way, I would’ve done everything possible to bring them down a peg or five. The title made total sense to me as soon as I read the prologue.

Once I’d started the book, this feeling was completely ingrained as it was discovered how nice and normal Presley is. Yes, she ended her engagement. But only because she wanted passion, fire and excitement in her relationship. Not just comfortable habits.

What she does after her breakup is pretty typical of many women. That she got to experiment sexually and have fun is exactly what anyone should do after coming out of a long-term relationship. Sure, it had an unexpected result. But that’s where the story gets interesting.

It was kind of predictable, in terms of the long-term eventualities. But you expect that with a romance. The story along the way was interesting with unexpected twists and turns. Which is exactly what you want from a romance.

The drama, the uncertainty, the chopping and changing or what’s going to happen. While slowly working towards the typical happily ever after that romances are known for.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review, next week I will be reviewing The Lords Inconvenient Vow by Lara Temple.

  1. This looks like a fun book! It may be a guilty pleasure of mine to read stories with rude love interests. Did you like the main love interest in the story?

    1. I was hesitant to begin with but the more I got into the story the more I enjoyed it and wanted things to work out for them
