Her Orc Husband – Zoe Ashwood

This book contains:

  • Arranged marriage
  • Theft of money.

Violet is a young woman who’s struggled to find her own place in the world, especially as a well-bred lady who’s expected to marry and produce heirs. And yet she can’t stand the touch of anyone. However, she’s determined to make the most of the first opportunity where she doesn’t feel an aversion to the man she’s meeting.

Marut is a librarian orc that we’ve met in previous books. He’s always come across as quiet, but serious and generally isn’t heard from much unless the library is being mentioned. While he hasn’t really come across as hugely likable previously, we get to find out more about his more respectful and intelligent side through his relationship with Violet.

Violet and Marut meet as the local matchmaker is ready to give up on finding a match for Violet. As Marut arrives early to his appointment, they run into each other and Marut explains that Violet is his mate.

Upon accepting the news, Violet begins her new life married to an orc by travelling to his home, learning about him, and standing up for the life that she’s chosen.

Overall Thoughts

Going into this I wasn’t sure how Zoe was going to make Marut likeable to me. Based on previous books, he was a bit of a prick who thought way too highly of himself. But I learnt in the past to trust Zoe and her writing, so I did.

In the end, Marut was quite likeable, and in many ways, the perfect gentleman. The way in which he accepted Violet as she was, didn’t push her to be anything that she wasn’t and 100% supported her choices, decisions, and the rights he believes she should have (even if she’s not used to having them).

I quite enjoyed this relatively quick read and it came at the perfect time for me. So I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
