This book contains:
- Kidnapping
- References to, and depictions of crime.
Citrine is our main character who’s desperately missing her grandma and wants a family of her own. She’s a little forgetful and clumsy, obsessed with chicken nuggets and has some amazing friends around her.
Her guys are Mickey the trickster god, Felix the Viking berserker (who cleans when the berserker rage kicks in), Darius the raven shifter and her cat.
Citrine’s grandmother died a year before at which time she adopted a cat from the shelter and then lost her job a couple months later. She also struggles with her identity a little as she doesn’t know what kind of paranormal creature she is, and she sprouts hair at the most awkward times which has resulted in some pretty close calls (and is partially responsible for her losing her job).
Since losing her job she opens up a thrift store with all the knick knacks her grandmother had collected and suddenly finds herself with four mates. Only problem is, even though they’ve found each other, it’s not smooth sailing becoming a happy family.
Given how this book was introduced to me (as a reverse harem book) I was quite underwhelmed by this. I get that not every author is going to have much in the way of sex being depicted in their books, but this didn’t even feel like they found their groove as a family unit by the end. I mean… the ending is literally Citrine running into the woods away from her men…
There’s more to the ending than that. But I felt like there was so much missing from this romance that just wasn’t explained or finished.
The whole time I felt a little underwhelmed by it all.
Who would like it
If you enjoy paranormal romances that are on the sweet side of the romance scale but also like the idea of a single female with multiple male partners. This will likely be fine for you. There is very little in the way of sexual descriptions, mostly they just stick to almost interactions or kisses so there’s hints of sexiness without going all the way.
It’s a bit of a slow start with an interesting take on action, so again, if you like the idea of action but don’t really enjoy it when it’s full action movie kind of style. Then you’ll probably enjoy the not so smooth sailing part of the book.
Basically, if you’re wanting to stick your toe into some more adventurous themes than a straight sweet, paranormal romance. You might like this!
If you like your romances a bit more full on, or maybe more drama or action. This may not appeal to you as much.
