Stygian – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Urian, our main character, is the son of Styxx and Bethany but grew up believing he was the son of Stryker. Kicking off before he was even born (when Acheron was killed and his mum Apollymi  went nuts on the world) through to 2017. Given we’d discovered in an earlier book that he’d married Phoebe, I wasn’t too sure how this was going to play out.

Cue a first love we didn’t know about, Xyn, and we’ve got the makings of a love triangle that goes across millennia. Makes it pretty interesting to see what happens!

The first portion of the book follows Urian for the first couple thousand years of his life, most of which was spent in Kalosis. On his few forays into the human world we see him cross paths with a few different Dark Hunters, Were Hunters and even Acheron and Savitar.

We even get to see a fair bit about Urian’s relationships with his brothers and sister’s. During these interactions and his various interactions with Xyn and Phoebe over the years we learn more about Urian than we have in all the previous books he’s featured in.

The first part of this book was a bit repetitive since it was taken pretty much directly from Acheron’s book from just after his death. And there were a few other sections that felt like this as well. Which can’t really be helped given how long Urian has been alive, and how much he’s been involved in other books.

What I didn’t like about how Sherrilyn did it is that she didn’t even try to re-write the scenes that Urian was in from his perspective. It felt more like a copy and paste from previous books.

Sherrilyn adds complexity to the story by having conflicting emotional responses from Apollymi towards Urian. We know she hates his true father, so why would she be close to him? Why train him to be amazing? Why be ok with him having Styxx’s emblem on his shield? Her love of him just felt so strange to me but at the same time so nice.

The biggest thing that was strange to me was Urian’s first love. And that it was to a dragon. From everything we knew about Urian until this point in time he has never ONCE mentioned loving anyone other than Phoebe. So to hear that he loved Xyn, and had a relationship with her over a span of hundreds of years. He loved her so much that he was devastated when she didn’t meet him and went back to her cave to check on her and found it abandoned and her long gone.

So my problem then became a matter of. Was Phoebe or Xyn his true love? Or is there someone new who has entered his life? Well after a whole lot of drama, adventure and tension it turns out Xyn was alive and locked as a statue all this time. Cue a bit more drama coz turns out Phoebe is alive as well and he ends up going back to Xyn and leaving Phoebe to try and enjoy what remains of her life.

Just like with Styxx’s book I was grabbed in, sucked in emotionally and really felt like I was there with Urian. The loneliness he’s experienced his whole life, as if he’s not like everyone else? It’s a feeling I’ve felt most of my life and its something that can isolate someone further than they already feel.

Son of No One – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Jo is from one of our favourite psychic families, yet her life is falling apart around her. While taking any opportunity to earn some money and get her life back on track she gets thrown into Avalon.

Cadegan has been stuck in Avalon for centuries, all alone and is kind of mad. Until Jo falls into Avalon and he’s forced to communicate with a human.

Jo takes a job to record what happens in a haunted houses, while in the haunted house she falls through a mirror into the hell realm of Avalon. Devoid of colour, fraught with danger, and of course the handsome Cadegan jumped in to save her life.

After discovering that Jo shouldn’t be there they began the quest to return her to the human realm. To get her home they’re sent on a quest to gather particular items to get a key to leave. Unfortunately, they’re swapped bodies to make the quest that much harder making for some hilarious moments along the way.

At the time of reading this I was going through a lot of similar emotions, making it so much easier to relate to Jo. Although the gentleman in all his manly displays of warrior strength and aptitude wasn’t quite so manly and warrior like when he was swapped into Jo’s body.

Having the quest given to them in the form of riddles gave us not just a strange world to enjoy, but a puzzle to figure out as we go!

Trying to solve the riddles along with them kept me captivated throughout, yet it ended in a way that left me dissappointed.

Styxx – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Hi all, welcome back to this weeks review. I’ve been looking forward to writing this one up since this is my favourite book in the whole series. Like, wholly and completely, this is my favourite book that I could come back to at any time and read as a stand alone book. And I think that’s because I relate to Styxx more than I have any other character in the series. I am going to apologise ahead of time for a long post. This book just packs so much into it that you can’t help but write a longer review to ensure you get the gist of it.

We start off with Archon killing as many baby boys as possible who may be his son and Apollymi taunting him because yet again he’s failed on his quest. And this is going way back to 9548 BC, back before even Acheron was born! We then experience a number or events from Styxx and Acheron’s childhood from Styxx’s point of view. Previously we’ve seen Acheron’s point of view and Styxx was always painted as a selfish brat.

However, now we see it from Styxx’s point of view where he is trying to connect to his family and the only one who seems to like him is his twin. Acheron. His sister Ryssa hates him because she thinks he gets everything from their parents, and Acheron get’s nothing. However his mum screams and throws things at him if he goes near her and his father is always cold. Because his father doesn’t believe Acheron is his son, he’s doubtful about Styxx’s paternity as well. So although he’s grooming Styxx to take over as king he doesn’t truly trust that he deserves to be king. Especially when he’s constantly distracted or sick, while he conveniently forgets that this happens because Acheron isn’t being treated fairly.

This is the first thing that made me feel like I connected with Styxx. Growing up my own family treated me differently just because they perceived that I had a better life than they did. In some ways I did have a better childhood, but in other’s they had it way better and they never bothered to ask me or talk to me to find out if we had anything in common. Which just drove us further and further apart, and over time that bred resentment which is what we see between Styxx and his siblings as they grow older.

After Acheron had been taken away and had his tongue pierced Styxx dropped in pain because his life force was linked to Acheron’s. Rather than remember that this had happened however, his father treated him as if he was insane and had him committed to the priests of Dionysus. He was left to their “kind” treatment for some time, during which he was beaten by the priests of Dionysus by day and gang raped by Dionysus and Apollo by night. And all because he was a prince that they all hated. However for Styxx this was just the start of Apollo’s obsession with him that would slowly but surely ruin his life.

Over the years Styxx gained the respect of his training master while he lost the respect and even “cordial” treatment from his family. The treatment he got from his uncle was what really opened his eyes. So he sneaked off to Atlantis to find Acheron and free him from what he suspected his brother was being forced to do. Unfortunately Acheron had been so brain washed and broken by their uncle that he refused to go which resulted in Styxx being caught. Which made things even worse for both of them. I really felt for Styxx at this time. Having already read Acheron’s book I knew that Acheron never remembered this later. A lot of Acheron’s hatred of Styxx came from the fact that he thought Styxx had everything he was meant to have. Without realising that his cage was just as tortuous as his own, even if it was gilded in gold rather than cold iron and drugs. Given the powers Acheron has as a god I don’t understand how he can’t be aware of this or what Styxx had had to put up with during his human lifetime.

Eventually Styxx grew so tired off all the abuse that he thew himself off a cliff. Does that really sound like the actions of someone who is selfish, spoiled and gets the best of everything handed to them on a silver platter? To me it doesn’t. While slowly dragging himself home he comes across Bethany in her human form (blind and fishing) and pretended to be just a common child of 16 years old. They quickly build a friendship and whenever they can they sneak off to meet each other by the stream to chill out and escape from the craziness of their lives. Some time later Styxx is sent to war, but he managed to slip out to see Bethany one last time before leaving at which point she gave him a necklace to “remind him of her” but in reality was bewitched to protect him from all damage.

It was a super sweet notion but quite funny when Bethany kept trying to kill the “arrogant prince” while searching for her Hector and finding that none of her weapons could touch him. He always seems to turn at the last second, or something would get in the way etc. Possibly the necklace played a part of his success and managed to overthrow and take control of many Atlantean controlled towns. But the one thing he made sure of was that not one of the women they came across were harmed or raped. They provided medical aid to all those injured regardless of their nationality. At some point along the way Bethany realised this prince was her Hector and she ended up pretty conflicted. I can understand where she’s coming from. The guy she trusted her heart to lied to her about who he was. But on the other hand, a prince who wouldn’t abuse his power to make her love him or at  least let him use her body, who cared for Atlantean’s alongside his own people definitely wasn’t what she was expecting of this “arrogant prince child”. So does she trust her heart, or those around her?

The next thing to happen sucks badly. Styxx was then kidnapped by Apollo and hand gifted to the Atlantean god’s all because he wouldn’t submit to Apollo like he wanted. Instead he was then physically abused and raped over and over for something like a year. During the course of that yr he was replaced by another god to make sure he wasn’t missed. While he was replaced the god turned everyone against him and went along with his father setting him up with an Egyptian bride. Luckily Bethany found him and released him in time to discover that he’d become engaged and ended it before it could be fulfilled.

Luckily Styxx and Bethany find some happiness and decide to get married to welcome their baby into the world. Except while Bethany is with her mother to turn herself into a human for Styxx Apollymi come’s calling because Acheron was killed and turns all the gods to stone. Meanwhile Styxx is sent to Hades realm away from Bethany and all he can think about is making sure she’s ok and thankful that she was visiting family rather than with him. At this point we only know a few bits and pieces about what Styxx gets up to in the future so it feels like this will be the first book in the series where there isn’t a happily ever after for our main characters.

The next few things we hear about Styxx is him trying to find ways to die. Like actually die. Properly die to end his never ending suffering. He’s already experienced starvation among many other torments and he just wants it all to end. After his first attempt to die in the modern world fails, Acheron plonks him on his own island in the Atlantean god’s realm where he doesn’t need to see him anymore. Some time later Urian comes across Styxx and like a fangirl meeting her fav movie/ pop star is immediately overwhelmed by meeting him and just wants to do whatever he can to help him out. Then the next person to come across him is Acheron’s wife. Which doesn’t bode well for Styxx. Whenever anyone who likes Acheron came across him in the past it meant pain and torment for him. But will she prove herself to be different? Too bad Simi wasn’t anywhere near as accepting when she came across Styxx. I guess having all the others accept Styxx meant someone had to hate him given his previous track record.

When Acheron finds out that Styxx is out again he goes into a rage. Since he’s so patient with everyone else it’s kinda surprising that he is so heartless and hostile to his brother for no reason. But on the other hand I kind of get it since I’m kind of like that as well. Those closest to you inevitably push your buttons more and because they just keep pushing and pushing you can’t help but snap and lose it sometimes. I’m not saying it’s the best behaviour. It’s definitely something those around Acheron are trying to help him get over. But it happens more often than not anyway.

In Acheron’s way he then sets Styxx up in an apartment in the real world. But doesn’t help him adjust to the change in the world. Lucky for him Urian visits and he is kept sane. Until the day Acheron needs him. At which point in time it feels like Acheron is trying to guilt trip him into helping him when Acheron has done nothing but abuse Styxx in every way possible for pretty much the entire history of the world. Anyway, Styxx does it in the hopes that it will help mend the problems in their relationship. Too bad it doesn’t. So he escapes to Egypt where Urian is the only person to bother checking up on him.

Eventually Styxx finds out about his previous lives and the role he has to play to save Bethany. And lucky for him it’s possible to save her and get the love of his life back. So even though he’s had to live through unimaginable pain, suffering, abuse, torture and betrayal maybe he will find peace. And even a family of his own. Luckily for him Acheron grows up just in time to help him get all this back.  Personally I can’t say I really trust Acheron yet. Coz it just feels like he’s being nice in the end because he’s been woken up to what a dick he was to his twin brother who had done nothing but try and help him all their human lives while trying to find his own little slice of happiness. But then again I’m not the most trusting of people. Hopefully it works out for them!

Of any book in this series this is the one I believe you should definitely read! Although to get the best impact from it you should probably read Acheron’s book first. Then it’ll make more sense. And there is SOOOOO much I haven’t touched on in this review because Sherrilyn has just absolutely jam packed this book full of things! So go and read it! Writing this review is making me want to re-read it as well. I feel like there’s a few spots where my memory is failing me which is a shame coz I really do love this one!

Until next time! See you next week and if you haven’t already read this one. Go and read it!

Time Untime – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Hi all, welcome back to another Dark Hunter novel. This week’s “Time Untime” is a little different to the previous ones. Or at least that’s how it felt to me. This time it seemed that the human (Dr Kateri) was the one targeted and Ren just happened upon her at the right time therefore making this a Dark Hunter novel.

To give you a big of background knowledge, we met Ren with Sundown a few books ago and in that one he was the quiet, yet knowledgeable one that seemed to always find a way to survive… So to then have him as the centre focus of this book and turns out he’s trying to kidnap Dr Kateri is really bloody weird. To my knowledge no Dark Hunter has kidnapped a woman before. So what the hell is going on?!

Dr Kateri on the other hand is being plagued by nightmares that feature Ren. Her grandmother seems to think Ren is a good guy, but then why does he freak her out so much? And when she meets him in real life why is he trying to kidnap her?

And given that the focus for this series has been on ancient Greece, Rome, the Celts and Amazons with the occasional deviation. This one felt way off the beaten track and I didn’t know where we were going. Right up until the end of the book when Ren’s existence is explained I was completely confused and didn’t know what to think or who to trust. Like he seemed like a nice guy in Sundown’s book but the Ren in this book was completely different!

Purely because it is so different to the other’s I’m not a massive fan of the story as part of the series. However as a stand alone book this is really well written. It has adventure, suspense, some romance and good old fashioned betrayal. So it’s a good read, just not one of my favs in the series.

And that’s a wrap for another week. I look forward to sharing my all time favourite with you next week!

The Guardian – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Welcome back all, I hope you like this review because this is one of my favorite books in the series.

We kick off this book with Lydia sneaking into Noir’s stronghold to try and rescue her dad. I can really feel for her since he’s all she’s got in the world, and from someone who is pretty close to my dad I can empathise with her. Since he finally owned up to doing the right thing and helped the rest of his fellow Dream Hunters he got captured and is now stuck in a dungeon possibly dying. Except with her typical bad luck she gets caught and delivered to Azura. Azura then gives Lydia to Seth as a plaything to keep him amused since she didn’t really have anything better to do with Lydia and wanted to make sure she was getting tortured. This on top of everything else we’ve learnt about Azura really makes me hate her even more.

Seth on the other hand has been a slave to Noir and Azura for over a millennia and is really sick of it. He was someone I had mixed feelings about for probably the first quarter of the book. He started off all intimidating and scary and threatening to Lydia, who for obvious reasons was pretty scared and what had happened to her. Lydia being mute tries to sign to him since that’s the language she uses to speak to her dad and others. Seth, again obviously, has no idea what she’s on about with the symbols she’s making with her fingers but he can tell she’s not happy.

At this stage I honestly didn’t know who to feel for more. We know from Seth’s point of view he had no intention to harm her and just wants to be left alone by Noir and Azura so he can focus on finding the “Key” they’ve told him to find. Lydia however doesn’t want to be raped and wants to save her dad. The hilarious part of this exchange between them is when Seth gets a laptop and is trying to figure out how to use it. Since the last time he was in the human world was YEARS before electricity was even thought of it was quite funny. It honestly reminded me of when I had to teach my dad how to use a computer and how oblivious he was. And Lydia essentially ends up doing that for Seth.

My favorite part about their relationship is the love/hate part of it. They are so aggressive towards each other, yet they seem to care for each other. Seth eventually mans up and admits his feelings for her and sends her back to the human realm to save her life. Only Lydia hates being treated like this, especially since her dad didn’t come home with her. So as a typical strong woman who knows what she wants, she comes back with the cavalry and saves not only her dad. But Seth as well. Although he took a bit longer to convince and actually get him out!

I really felt like this one had really strong family and relationship values that really spoke to me. At this time I had just moved back to Melbourne and my family so her loyalty to her dad was how I was feeling at the time. I was also single so I was feeling a little sorry for myself and just a little bit jealous of Lydia finding love in such an unlikely place and making something of her life.

Thank you for reading I’m love seeing that you’re enjoying my posts so I hope you continue to enjoy them.

See you next week!

Retribution – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Welcome back to another week of Dark Hunters. In this weeks book we will be following Sundown (Jess Brady, you might remember him from Zarak’s book right near the start of the series) and Abigail. Sundown and Abigail are fated to be together, but also for Sundown to die before he can actually marry Abigail. And that death is because Abigail dared chose Sundown over some other cocky ass hole.

Reading through this book I kinda felt like there was a third wheel to  their love story because Ren seems to be there the whole way through. And not in a sidekick kinda way either. This book felt like it was an action book first and a romance book second. And I feel like as we progress through the series this happens more and more often. I’m  not sure if it’s because Sherrilyn got bored of writing just romance or whether the series was always meant to take a turn more towards action the whole time.

I’m not saying I didn’t like it. This series was my first kinda foray into the “romance” genre after growing up reading series that were fantasy action based with a dash of romance thrown in every so often. So for me knowing that there was more to these books than just the “happily every after” is what made it for me. It’s what draws me back every time. I can enjoy a romance book that is purely romance, but without the character and world development I get bored. So Sherrilyn’s ability to balance both really appeals to me.

Back to the storyline, be prepared to be on the edge of your seat the whole time. With the evil guys opening plagues onto Las Vegas that is sure to kill everyone, and crazy scary shit chasing our main crew while they desperately race to some hidden valley before their time runs out and all the plagues are stuck on earth; you definitely feel the adrenaline the whole way through reading this one. While also sitting there going “how are these guys still alive?!” And I’m not joking. Several times I had to remind myself there needed to be a happily ever after which explained why they survived.

But I kinda wish more authors could be like George R. R. Martin and be willing to kill off main characters that people fall in love with just to throw some spice into it. Sometimes I get bored reading books where the heroes ALMOST dead only to sit there going “yea well they haven’t won the girl yet so I know they will survive” which kills the adrenaline and kinda kicks you out of your absorbed state. And there were a few moments like that in this book.

O and coz I don’t think I’ve mentioned this. I love the fact that this book focuses on the native American tribal mythology rather than the European mythology. It made for a nice change of pace which I quite enjoyed because I can’t say I know much about their history or culture.

I will leave it at that for this week and I look forward to seeing you next week.

No Mercy – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Welcome back all, I’ve mostly recovered from being sick so thankfully this one will go up on time for you! This week we are looking at Sam and Dev’s relationship.

The best thing for me about this book is learning more about the Amazons. Pretty much all I knew about them was that they were tribes that were only female, when they wanted to get pregnant they’d kidnap or find men to get pregnant, and if they birthed boys then they gave them to their fathers and kept the girls. As soon as I found out that this book was focusing on a Dark Hunter and a Were-Hunter I had to wonder how it would work…. Or even what kind of battle would play out.

To be completely honest the parts of this story that really stand out in my memory are the scene where Dev first sees Sam getting off her bike, coz you know, a woman in full skin tight leather getting off of a motorbike all sexy like and shaking her hair out once the helmet comes off is kinda hard to ignore. After that I honestly don’t remember why they end up having to find Hippolyta’s treasured something. It was like a piece of chest armour or something.

Anyway they end up with a riddle somehow (sorry guys, I don’t know if the book just wasn’t that memorable or if it’s coz I’ve only read this one a couple of times, rather than the 5+ time’s I’ve read most of the others) that they need to solve to let them into some specific kind of world where they can fight to win the prize.

And cue the awesome fight scenes. There are wolves while the earth is falling apart, then there’s flying monkey’s with axe’s, a sandstorm and finally a cheating guard/ goddess that they have to get through to win the prize. The fight sequence of scenes grabbed my attention because with standard Sherrilyn style it’s adrenaline pumping and grips you all the way wondering if our heroes are going to die.

When we get to the final challenge I’m left wondering how Sam can possibly pull this off. I mean, we know she’s part of the “Dogs of War” ultimate group of Dark Hunters (FYI this is a group of fighters so mean and so powerful that even in the presence of other Dark Hunters their powers don’t diminish to a noticeable level, or if they do they don’t care and so are still super deadly) so she must be pretty awesome when it comes to fighting. But this is an obstacle course. That’s all about speed, agility and stamina not brute force and determination. But it turns out this obstacle course is a bit different as it includes archery, trickery (well on the guards side not Sam’s) and swordsmanship on top of giant flying birds.

It really felt the whole way through this that the romance between Dev and Sam was secondary. It never really felt like they were fighting for each other, or struggling to come to terms with their emotions and what that means. Other than Sam obviously killing Daimons because they killed her husband and child. She was still getting past that. So in terms of this being a book to read for action scenes, yes it’s super cool. If you want the romance, it’s a little bit lacking. But it does set you up to know some newish characters a bit better for future books. So it’s still worth the read, but it’s a little weaker than some of the others.

I hope you enjoyed this read and I look forward to seeing you next week.

Bad Moon Rising – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Welcome back all, I’m sorry about the delay in this going up. Apparently my sick brain has been failing me and so it’s taken me longer than normal to write this one up and get it published for you.

This book is focused on Aimee and Fang, if you’ve read these books then you’re probably familiar with Aimee because she’s been in most books that have had anything to do with New Orleans. Fang however hasn’t been featured much since Vane’s book right near the start of the series. So I was a bit surprised when this book focused on these two. Especially because everything we know about Were-Hunters is that they can’t mate between species unless it’s between say two types of cats (eg. leopard and tiger). So to have an Arcadian bear (has a human heart) and a Katagaria wolf (animal heart) falling in love doesn’t seem quite feasible.

Because Fang has been in a coma for so long however we get to find out what’s been happening to him since the Daimons tried to suck out his soul. So we find out that Fang has been sucked into some demon death realm type place where they are trying to escape from. Fang however lands himself in the chambers of the esteemed hell realms controller because he tries to sell his soul to save Aimee. It seems heoric, but knowing what I know about souls thanks to the other books I can’t help but think Fang is more than a little stupid right now. Which is why the controller steps in and stops him from making such a huge mistake.

Which is lucky for Aimee since she’s spent so long tracking down and killing all the Daimons who took a chunk of Fang’s soul before his soul dies. Once the last Daimon was killed Fang was able to return to his body with the help of Thorn. However to get Thorn to do this Fang had to agree to join Thorn’s “army” whose main purpose in life is to track down escaped demons and send them back to Thorn’s realm for supervision and punishment. Which is where Fang proves himself to be a bit silly again.

Instead of sending a demon back to Thorn’s realm he killed it. Which in demon world worlds mean that Fang now inherits the powers of the demon. Including it’s rage. Which is a problem when people start turning up dead during the times that Fang is having blackouts. Luckily Aimee is an amazing human being who really truly trusts people. That level of trust is rare in this day and age so it’s good to see someone that is still capable of this.

Cue a whole lot of fighting, suspicion, investigation etc all the while Aimee’s mum is trying to set her up with another male bear so that she could carry on the family’s business and their seat on the ruling council. Reading about them secretly hooking up, trying to help each other through all the crap their families are putting them through, hiding the secrets about themselves from everyone else and helping out those around them that they are closest to. All of that activity and secrecy has got to be draining on them and their relationship with each other.

So it’s amazing that at the end of the book they are actually still together, in love and happy. Not only is their relationship out in the open. Everyone seems to be pretty happy with them (we will find out exactly how much in future books) and it ends pretty well. But obviously, because the haven’t actually had mating marks appear it still leaves a sour taste in your mouth because you can see how much they love each other and we already know how caring Aimee is. So it really sucks for her that she can’t have the kids that you can clearly see she would love to have. Especially with Fang.

I hope you enjoyed this one and I will see you next week. Hopefully on time as well!

Dream Warrior – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Welcome back all, I hope you’re looking forward to this review because this book is the first one where we really see the new direction the series is taking!

So we begin this book with Cratus standing on the highest point of Olympus getting ready to give himself over to Zeus for his punishment. Meanwhile Nike, his sister, was trying to talk him into running to try and save his life. Cept Cratus doesn’t run from anything. And his crime for which he needs to give himself up to Zeus for? He didn’t kill a particular child like he was ordered to.

Why did Zeus want that child killed? Because it was prophesied that this child would bring about the downfall of his reign in Olympus. And being the type of god that he is, he wasn’t to reign supreme forever more.

Now fast forward to modern day times and Cratus is working as a mechanic on minimal wage, he doesn’t talk (literally everyone thinks he’s mute), doesn’t socialise and keeps to himself. Which isn’t hard to encourage since he’s huge, looks menacing, has a scary scar on the right hand side of his face that’s so deep it looks like he’s probably missing his right eye. And Delphine and Phobos need to convince this guy to fight for Olympus? After Olympus has done this to him?

Jeeze I don’t like their chances of that happening! Specially when he was the god of strength and the son of Warcraft. Surely he’s gotta be prone to holding a grudge and when given an opportunity giving it back to them as bad as they gave to him right? I mean, I’m prone to that and I’m not particularly strong, or associated with war!

And I was proven right when he basically told Delphine and Phobos to get stuffed and then when Noir (our new uber, ultra enemy!) recruits Cratus to fight for his side of the war against Olympus. They even gave him the gift of a woman who looks suspiciously like the child he saved and was punished by Zeus for saving…

We go through a number of weird scenarios, meet some very odd demons, find out that there’s a bunch of Dream Hunters imprisoned and even come across some beings that have been mentioned in previous books. But this is where we really start to find out how evil Noir and his sister Azura really are. And what they intend for the world.

Which really isn’t much since they only want to destroy it and take over the entire universe.  And since they are the children of the universe and draw power from the universe rather than from people worshipping them like the Greek gods. It means they are pretty damn powerful and probably not anyone you’d want to cross.

Yet Delphine uses every opportunity she’s given to try and convince Cratus to teach the Dream Hunter’s how to fight so that they can protect the human world against Noir and Azura. She eventually succeeds, and Cratus finally goes back to Olympus, overthrows Zeus and creates a new order of power. Including allowing the Dream Hunter’s to have their emotions back since there was no real reason to take them away from them to begin with them.

So I can honestly say i’m looking forward to sharing the rest of the series with you since my favourite book in the is getting closer! Also, writing up this review gave me flashbacks to another book that I really enjoyed. So much so I had to keep referring back to the book and keep things general to not accidentally mix up the facts between the two books.

For those of you who’ve read the series you might be able to guess which book I’m talking about. That one is one of those one’s that you don’t really think about being AMAZING until you start thinking about other books that then remind you of that one.

Anyway, I’m signing off for the post. So I hope you’ve enjoyed it. Thankyou to my few followers that have been liking all of my Dark Hunter posts. I really appreciate your support and I hope I keep delivering posts that you enjoy! I will see you all next week with my next review.
