Alyvia and the Merry Maids continue their mission to find all the Starkiller pieces and as we go, we learn more and more about each individual and their histories. This is especially important for Alyvia as we finally get to know what happened to her on her home planet and why she left.

Alyvia and the Merry Maids continue their search for the Starkiller pieces, except now they need to avoid being killed by the others who’re also after the Starkiller. They don’t know how these people are getting the information of where the pieces are, or who they work for. But they know there’s a leak somewhere and the people who used to be close to them are now turning against them.

While this continues on from the Merry Maids with the same great pace, action and character development. There was something about it that just didn’t quite feel as good. Maybe missing links that would’ve tidied up a few spots?

It was nothing major, just something I noticed as I was reading. If I didn’t read it so soon after finishing the Merry Maids I might not have noticed at all! But I was still riding that high when I started this so it niggled at me a little as I read this one.

As a whole, the pacing picked up a little bit from the first one, which is to be expected given most world building and character introductions should be done in the first book in a series with elements being adding in sequels. With the increase in pace, the suspension needed at certain elements ramped up at just the right time creating a sense of urgency to the reader that perfectly complemented the scenes.

Again, I was left desperately wanting the next book when I reached the end.
