How (Not) to Date a Prince – Zoe May

This book contains:

  • Mentions of being left at the alter.

Sam is a hard-hitting political journalist who loves her job and hates anything to do with romance, especially weddings. After being left at the alter, romance and weddings are something she avoids at all costs. She’s committed to making the world a better place by focusing on issues that impact everyday people in their everyday lives.

Fredrik is the love interest for Sam in this hilarious romance. He’s secretive, cautious and somehow runs into Sam everywhere she goes, even on her weekends.

Sam is told to cover the royal wedding of the century by her boss. She tries to get out of it in every way she can think of but is still left with the assignment.

While at one of the wedding press events, she runs into the handsome hunk who she’s sure has been brought in by a competitor to cover the wedding as well. As they keep running into each other, the attraction continues until it has to burst.

The entire time I read this I was getting some major Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wedding vibes. I don’t know if it was inspired by their wedding (this was released a couple weeks before they got married) but it certainly had some similar vibes. The couple getting married include a TV star, fan favourite who’s down to earth and her handsome Prince that she met by chance but instantly fell in love with.

But focusing on the romance story. I was really curious to see how things would play out. I had some guesses as to who Fredrik was, but I couldn’t be sure because we just didn’t have enough information.

Which in its own way made it so fun when the reveals finally came out. Then there was Sam’s reaction to every step which caused its own drama and hilarity.

By the end, you will have experienced the slow burn will-they-wont-they romance followed by hilarious scenes that will have you laughing out loud.
