Vaughn is our sexy hockey player who’s always sporting a scowl and is generally disliked by everyone on his team and their fans thanks to an age-old rivalry with his new team’s captain. Since he wants out of the team ASAP, he’s basically just holding on and trying to keep his head down.

Natalie is a female love interest and the younger sister of Vaughn’s captain, and strictly off limits to the entire team, ESPECIALLY Vaughn. Only problem is, she doesn’t want to listen to her brother and she’s always found Vaughn to be attractive and kind.

When Vaughn goes to his local haunt he discovers his team mates are there so has to stick around to be social, that is until the beautiful woman he hooked up with before joining the team 8 months prior enters the bar. Immediately Vaughn’s trying to find out who she is, why he’s never seen her around the team and he begins his quest to convince her to give him a chance, even if her brother hates his guts and he wants to move teams at the end of the season.

Based on how I was introduced to this book, I guessed it’d be on par with some of the other hockey romance books I’ve enjoyed. The fact that Vaughn is all scowly and comes across mean but is actually a bit of a softie obviously gains some interest.

Then add in Natalie who’s trying to keep the peace and save her heart by avoiding Vaughn and you’ve got a great recipe for a great read that hooks you in. Whenever I had the chance to read this once I started, I found it hard to put it down. I was sucked in enough that I just wanted to find out what happened and how it’d work out.
